Reading for a Reason 1 is the first in a three-level reading series that leads student to self-activate schemata, to develop the critical reading before, during, and after the readings, and to build up their vocabulary skills to become confident, academic readers.
The objectives of Reading for a Reason are to increase students’ independence, confidence, competence, and comfort in reading in English and in learning new vocabulary. To be successful academically, students must have strong reading, vocabulary, and computer skills. Reading for a Reason is designed to work on the skills that are most needed for academic success. As shown on the left, the three books in the series range from High-Beginning to High-Intermediate.
